Trends, Hello! / Part Two
Following on from last week, we're diving into the second half of trends and styles.
Recap: “Now more than ever couples are wanting to put a unique spin on their wedding – something a little more, them. It is often the small details that make a wedding truly unique; so here are some trends bound to affect your choices in the coming year.
Colour – Think long term, not right now
While punchy persian reds and emerald greens are on the cards again, this year we will see a swing towards natural colours and lots of green. We’ve also heard on the grape vine that gold and silver are going to become wedding staples, so be sure to keep an eye out.
Fairy tales are coming back with glitter set to hit the scene. With natural tones, brides will glam things up with glitter here, there, everywhere. And lace, lacey, lace will continue to be a bride’s great love!
The Cake – Flavour is here to impress
Welcome to the year of exotic cake flavours. Bakers pull on those aprons, because it’s about to get messy. Unusual flavours and combinations will be an all-round favourite. The Bridal Guide talk about honey lavender, zucchini lime, chai tea latte’ and caramel apple cider! The possibilities are endless, so hold onto your cakes ladies, flavours are flying.
Food – Everybody loves food
Casual will override formal and enjoying the party will become the focus. Formal dining is closer to the exit door then in the actual reception. Couples are opting for food all night long so guests can eat whenever they’re hungry. Food trucks, dessert tables, beer bars – They’re less formal and food is great. It’s that simple.
Alternative spaces – Let’s go somewhere special
We’ll keep this short, but 2015 wants you to think outside the box. Lofts, galleries, museums, private estates… places with an abundance of intricate detail already in place. Just keep in mind these types of spaces can be a little trickier to fit all your guests in.
The Dress – Oh me, oh my!
Two words: Detachable trains. Ahh! Why spend the extra money on two dresses when you can opt to detach your length later. The dress often looks completely different and will be lighter for you when you’re partying on through the night!
Brides will also be taking some risky non-traditional choices. Jumpsuits, broadening on the dress colour (not white), short and sweet, classic comfort and the addition of hats and gloves.
To wrap it all up in a neat, little two-week package:
- Personal details and design will be key
- Toned down colour schemes will creep in
- Gold and silver will become bridal staples
- Romantic peonies, roses, hydrangeas, tulips will be favourites but alternate combinations will be evident
- Invitations will be wow, wow, wow exciting
- Cake will be all about the exotic flavour
- Easy access food, all the way
- Alternate venues will be adored
- Lace is here to stay
- And detachable trains, well, we like those
