Let's become Yogi's

Over the last few years I have discovered yoga - thanks mum. It clears my mind and strengthens my body like no other exercise has accomplished. I have had a gym membership, played high level sport and am a reasonable runner. Although these sports have been fantastic, yoga simply has a way of making your mind pause for a moment, entwining your body, mind and surrounding elements all at once.

For me, yoga is the most empowering and fulling exercise I have participated in. Better yet, there's a Sydney based founder who transfixes and transforms me every time I'm engaged in the activity.

Yoga is a way of life and although I have not practised consistently, I always come back here when I need it most. When I need a little nudge in life to improve my fitness and encourage my purpose I come back to the Evolutionary Vinyasa Series to get me underway.

Living in Queensland, we unfortunately do not have any studios to join. All of Peak's studios are based in:

  • New South Wales
  • Western Australia
  • Victoria
  • New Zealand

Somehow being in Queensland we missed the cut! Not to worry, he does have an epically, awesome (yes, I just used epic and awesome in the same sentence) DVD where you can practise in the comfort of your own home.  Now if you're a beginner, busy mum or dad, busy human focused on your career, poor uni student or even an advanced Yogi, this DVD has something for everyone. There are 5 different sequences (levels) ranging from 35 minutes through to 145 minutes. Although I've never quite made it to the 145, I endeavour to get there this year.

An article from the Greatest by Erin Kelly shares some insight addressing how a lot or a little of yoga can benefit you.  It is well documented that people who lack flexibility, suffer lower back pain, anxiety, depression and many other ailments or those looking for a lifelong exercise regime (with consultation and advice from your doctor where appropriate); yoga can be your best friend.

Personally, with yoga in my life, it has assisted me in being more comfortable in my own skin, more patient, more accepting and happier. Every time I get back into the swing of things and welcome yoga back into my life, after brief episodes of abandonment, I always wonder, why did I ever stop..?

The DVD I use is by Power Living and is just $34.95. I'm not usually one to advertise, but if you're a little curious or have some spare cash, I believe it's a pretty great investment, so why not head over to their website and take a look.
